HFH of Boone County IL is a locally run affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing organization. Habitat for Humanity works in partnership with people in need to build and renovate decent, affordable housing. The houses then are sold to those in need at no profit and with no interest charged.
Volunteers provide most of the labor, and individual and corporate donors provide money and materials to build Habitat houses. Partner families themselves invest hundreds of hours of labor - "sweat equity" - into building their homes and the homes of others. Their mortgage payments go into a revolving Fund for Humanity that is used to build more houses.
Habitat for Humanity Boone County proudly broke ground on their fifth house at 707 Chicago Street on May 22nd. Lisa Waters with her children Juliana, Saroya and Damien, got some excellent help from Mayor Mike Chamberlin, HFH construction chair, Jerry Seagren and site supervisor, Art Hyland.

Boone County Habitat Marks Earth Day with Reminder to Donate Vehicles
Earth Day is April 22nd. Boone County Habitat for Humanity is urging everyone to celebrate Earth Day by donating vehicles to Cars for Homes tm, which is Habitat's vehicle donation program. If you have older vheicles that do not meet current efficency and emission standards, get them off the roads by donating them to Habitat . Funds realized from those donations help put local families into energy-efficent homes. This is the perfect reycycling program!
