Boone County Habatit Home Construction Schedule for 2012

Art Hyland, construction manager for Habitat for Humanity of Boone County, has set the schedule for building the Gomez family home at 909 N. Main Street in Belvidere, IL.

The first construction site workday for volunteers is May 19, Construction work is scheduled on May 26, which is Memorial Day weekend. Every Saturday will be volunteer workday at the construction site until the home is completed, which is scheduled to be the end of September.

Note:Work is scheduled for July 7, which is the Saturday after July 4th, Independencd Day, and on September 1, which is the Saturday before Labor Day.

Boone County Habitat Selects 2012 Partner Family

Habitat for Humanity of Boone County has selected a partner family for 2012

Maria Isabel Gomez and her three children, Ricardo Gomez(17), Daniel Gomez(6), and Vanessa Hernandez(3), have been selected as the partner family for the 2012 Habitat home to be built at 909 N. Main street in Belvidere, IL. A home with three beedrooms, one bath, kitchen, living room and a basement is in the planning stages.
Maria has worked at Camryn Industries for 5 years and has lived in Belvidere for 14 years.

Boone County Habitat Marks Earth Day with Reminder to Donate Vehicles

Earth Day is April 22nd. Boone County Habitat for Humanity is urging everyone to celebrate Earth Day by donating vehicles to Cars for Homes tm, which is Habitat's vehicle donation program. If you have older vheicles that do not meet current efficency and emission standards, get them off the roads by donating them to Habitat . Funds realized from those donations help put local families into energy-efficent homes. This is the perfect reycycling program!

It is quick and easy to donate cars, trucks, boats. RVs, motorcycles, construction equipment and other vehicles -- running or not! Plus, you may be eligible for a tax deduction. (Consult your tax advisor or the IRS for details.
