Boone County Habitat for Humanity and the Boone County Chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans held a dedication ceremony for the Jones Family home at 1246 East 2nd Street in Belvidere, IL on Wednesday November 10, 2010 at 4 pm.

On a beautiful Wednesday, November at 4 pm, Habitat for Humanity volunteers, Thrivent Financial representatives, Belvidere Mayor Frederic C. Brereton, local dignitaries and, of course, the excited partner family gathered at 1246 East Second Street, Belvidere, for a home dedication ceremony. Hard work, generous financial backing, and community support made this home possible.

The new homeowners, Robert and Tisha Jones, were eager to move into their new home. They have completed more than 300 hours of "sweat equity" work while helping to build the home, which is a basic requirement of Habitat for Humanity. They will repay the no-profit mortgage over a period of 20 years, illustrating Habitat for Humanity's objective to give families a "hand up" and not a "hand out".

Robert Jones recently said, "It is a real treat to work with all the wonderful volunteers and build together a home for my family."
